The Best Skier of Our Time
...is arguably New Hampshire native Bode Miller. I'm sure some Austrian's would disagree, and Hermann Maier is a very close second, but Bode has always had a fearlessness on skis that no one else has been able to match.
Hermann Maier, aka the Herminator, is no slouch, coming back from a serious motorcycle wreck that nearly took a leg off. And, he has managed to reach Championship levels.
And American Daron Rahlves is the only American to take the Hahnenkamm, a point Austrians like to dispute, but a win is a win, nicht wahr, meine Damen und Herren?
Daron is an all-around athlete the likes of which we don't often see. I really admire and respect his abilities. But, Bode has staying power, and the uncanny ability to recover from wipe-outs to actually win the race. Maybe it's that training on the East Coast hills that did it?
There's no snow where I am, yet, and the ski racing has yet to be televised (but my TIVO is looking for it), so get some inspiration from one damn great skier, and start working on your core balance--you're going to need it to keep up with Bode ;-)
